Data from multiple online travel platforms shows that since July, with the stabilization of epidemic prevention and control, the number of air ticket bookings in Yunnan, where the temperature is above 20 degrees Celsius all year round, has more than doubled month-on-month. Kunming has become the second most popular destination for air tickets, Yunnan accommodation booking has grown significantly, and the price is even higher.
Compared with the high temperature of more than 35 degrees Celsius in many places, the weather forecast shows that the highest temperature in Kunming in the past week (July 21-July 27) is around 27 degrees Celsius. The sharp temperature contrast has increased the number of tourists visiting Kunming for summer vacations. Qunar big data shows that this year’s summer air ticket bookings in Yunnan have exceeded that of the same period in 2019, and nearly 70% of the passengers chose to go to Kunming to escape the summer.
Qunar data shows that in the past week (July 15-July 21), the number of train ticket bookings to Kunming increased by nearly 20% month-on-month. Among them, Kunming-Dali, Kunming-Xishuangbanna, Kunming-Lijiang in Yunnan Province are popular tourist routes in the province, and Chongqing, Guiyang and Guangzhou are popular cities for railways going to Kunming outside the province.
Regarding air tickets, the bookings of air tickets to Yunnan on the Qunar platform from July to now have nearly doubled compared to the same period in June. Among them, the bookings of air tickets in Lijiang, Xishuangbanna, and Dali have all increased by more than double, and the increase in Lijiang has been as high as 140%. While Yunnan’s air ticket bookings have increased, the price paid for air tickets has been relatively low. Qunar data shows that the price of air tickets to Yunnan in the past week is about 30 yuan cheaper than the previous week.
The increase in tourism popularity has also driven the growth of hotel bookings in cities. On the Qunar platform, since July, hotel bookings in Yunnan have increased by nearly 50% compared with the same period in 2019. More than double, the highest increase of 160%.
At the same time, the prices of hotels in Yunnan are also higher.
Tourist hotel orders show that taking Shangri-La Songzan Linka Hotel as an example, the price of a deluxe double bed room booked from June 28 to June 29 is 1,006 yuan per night.
The reporter searched on July 22 and found that the same room type of room booked on the same day from July 26 to July 27 has been sold out, and the price is 2070 yuan / night, the price has more than doubled. At the same time, including the deluxe double room, a total of 9 room types in the hotel have been sold out from July 26 to 27.
In terms of homestays, data from Tujia Homestay shows that from July 1st to July 21st, the number of homestay reservations in Yunnan Province increased by nearly 2.3 times compared with the same period last month, and an increase of more than 50% compared with the same period last year. The number of tourists received by homestays in Yunnan Province increased by 2.5 times compared with the same period last month.
Tujia B&B data shows that on July 21, the number of B&B reservations and receptions in Yunnan Province reached the current peak. The number of B&B reservations on the 21st nearly doubled from that on the 20th, and this hot trend will continue until August.
From the perspective of regions, from July 1st to July 21st, Diqing, Wenshan, Lijiang, Xishuangbanna, and Dali Prefecture were the regions with the fastest growth in B&B bookings in the province, and the order growth exceeded three times.
From the perspective of popular business districts, Dali Ancient Town in Dali Prefecture, Dayan Ancient Town in Lijiang, Gaozhuang Xishuangjing Resort in Xishuangbanna, Shuanglang Scenic Area in Dali Prefecture, Shuhe Ancient Town in Lijiang, Dukezong Ancient Town in Diqing, and Erhai Village in Dali Prefecture Scenic area, Kunming Chenggong New District, Lijiang City, Kunming Nanping Pedestrian Street/Golden Horse and Jade Rooster are the business districts with the most concentrated B&B reservations in the province.
From the perspective of the distribution of tourist sources from other provinces, tourists from Chengdu, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Changsha, Wuhan, Hangzhou and Xi’an most like to travel to Yunnan. Among them, young guests aged 16-25 account for more than 40% of the mainstream. Traveling to Yunnan in summer has become a new choice for young tourists.
In terms of scenic spots, according to Qunar platform data, the top ten scenic spots in Yunnan with ticket bookings are Wild Elephant Valley, Lugu Lake, Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Jinghong Manting Park, Xishuangbanna Primitive Forest Park, Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, Stone Forest, Chongsheng Temple Three Pagoda Cultural Tourism Zone, Colorful Yunnan Happy World, Kunming Sunac Sea World.
As one of the most popular summer resorts in the country, the ticket bookings in July of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is nearly three-fold increase compared with the same period in June.
