Since the outbreak of novel coronavirus pneumonia in Wuhan, the Cambodian government has paid close attention to the progress of the epidemic, and Prime Minister Sen Hong has even proposed to go to Wuhan to encourage Cambodian students. After China declined his request, he proposed to change the visit to Beijing.
Sen Hong has publicly stated the position of Cambodian government many times: he will not take back students studying in China and diplomats working in China, and he will not suspend flights between China and Cambodia.
On February 5, local time, Sen Hong posted on Facebook that he would visit Beijing in the afternoon. “I would also like to inform my colleagues that I will arrive in Beijing on the afternoon of February 5th, this is a working visit and then return to Cambodia tonight.”
On January 30, Sen Hong made a national television speech on the response to the COVID-19 epidemic, saying that Cambodia highly appreciates the rapid powerful preventive and control measures taken by the Chinese government. The Cambodian government and people will stand firmly with Chinese government and people, share happiness, share difficulties, and work together to fight the epidemic and overcome the difficulties together.
When attending the World Peace Alliance Summit in South Korea on Feb. 4th, Sen Hong emphasized: “The novel coronavirus is not only a problem to China, but also problem to the world. The Cambodian government’s standpoint on novel coronavirus is unwavering.”
