Recently, the Shaanxi Archaeological Museum, the first archaeological museum in my country, was completed.
It will be put into trial operation for the society on April 28, and the epitaph of Shangguan Wan’er will be exhibited for the first time in the museum.
Shangguan Wan’er was known as the “Women Prime Minister” during Wu Zetian’s period. Her epitaph added information about her funeral by Princess Taiping after she was killed in Tang Long’s coup.
Moreover, archaeologists found that Shangguan Wan’er’s tomb was severely damaged, probably because Tang Xuanzong believed that she was part of Princess Taiping’s party and carried out “official destruction of the tomb”.
